Laura became an NSDAR member in November 2015. Laura has served as the chapter’s Treasurer, Vice Regent, and Regent before becoming the chapter’s Historian for the 2022-2024 term. Laura was bestowed the distinction of Honorary Chapter Regent at the conclusion of her four-year term as regent in 2022. Laura has served as the State Chair of the Junior American Citizens Committee, editor of the State Newsletter, and Northern Nevada VAVS Deputy Representative. She is the current State Chair of the Master Reports Committee, State Co-Chair of the Volunteer Information Specialist Committee, and is also serving on the State Bylaws Committee. Laura is also the Chapter Chair of the Literacy Promotion, DAR Scholarship, and Volunteer Information Specialist Committees.

Laura became interested in DAR through her genealogy research. Her devotion to the DAR mission and the friendliness of the women in the Sierra Nevada Chapter NSDAR solidified her decision to become an active member in the chapter. She considers the lasting friendships formed an added benefit to belonging to this chapter.
