After moving to Reno, Jessica sought membership in the DAR. It was her mother’s desire to join, but this did not happen during her mother’s lifetime. Jessica picked up the torch and submitted her application under her mother’s ancestor, becoming a DAR member in August 2014.
Jessica has been an active member of the DAR. She transferred to the Sierra Nevada Chapter NSDAR in 2018, and is currently the chapter registrar. In one year, Jessica was successful in getting 22 new members into the Sierra Nevada Chapter NSDAR. Jessica has received state and national awards for her success in getting new members into the DAR. She has also presented genealogy workshops for the Nevada State Society and the Southern Nevada Chapters.
Jessica has served as Chairman of the Nevada State Membership Committee. She is currently Co-Chairman of the State of Nevada’s Chapter Development and Revitalization Commission. At the chapter level, she is chairman of the volunteer genealogy, lineage research and American Indian committees.
Jessica enjoys the challenge of assisting a prospective member and proving their lineage. Her career and love for historical research are tools she uses when she works on a new or supplemental DAR application. Mostly, Jessica takes pleasure in helping people and being a positive influence in her community. Jessica enjoys the DAR sisterhood and is proud to be a member of this historical organization.
