We would love to have you join our chapter!
Thank you for your interest in the Sierra Nevada Chapter, NSDAR. We are a service organization dedicated to historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Membership is open to any woman 18 and over with proven lineal, bloodline descent from a Patriot who fought or aided our quest for freedom in the American Revolutionary War.
Our chapter is a diverse group of women with a strong commitment to preserving our history, honoring our veterans, encouraging our students to be responsible citizens, and upholding the ideals of our Constitution through acts of patriotic service in our community. Organized in June 2014, the Sierra Nevada Chapter, NSDAR, is the newest DAR chapter in the Reno and Sparks area. We are also the fastest-growing DAR chapter in the State of Nevada, and we have won several state, division, and national DAR awards for our projects, events, and membership growth. We were awarded the distinction of being Nevada’s Outstanding DAR Chapter in both 2018 and 2021. We are a multi-generational group of nearly 100 ladies with varied backgrounds, from young college students to moms and working professionals to retired grandmothers, but we share a common bond through our interest in genealogy, historical preservation, education, and patriotism. We enjoy working together to benefit our veterans, students, and local community in a variety of ways. In so doing, we have developed lasting friendships that extend beyond our DAR projects.
We have monthly meetings from September through May. Generally, the meetings take place in South Reno, Nevada, on the second Saturday afternoon of each month. Our meetings are no more than two hours in length.
If you are interested in becoming the newest member of our dynamic, award-winning chapter, please contact our chapter regent for further information on how to join the Sierra Nevada Chapter, NSDAR. We look forward to hearing from you!
